Background Screening Requirement

The Red Deer Lacrosse Association (RDLA) prioritizes the safety of all participants by requiring background screening (also known as a Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check) for individuals in positions of trust, including coaches.

Who Needs a Criminal Record Check?

All coaches aged 18 or older as of January 1 of the current season are required to complete a Criminal Record Check. Failure to submit the check by the start of the season may result in ineligibility for coaching during that season.

A new Criminal Record Check is required every two years. Criminal Record Checks from other minor sports organizations completed within one year prior to the start of the evaluation/tryouts may be accepted.

How to Apply 

1. Email the RDLA Coaching Coordinator to request the RDLA letter required for the application.
2. Visit the RCMP office at the downtown detachment or apply through the City of Red Deer website.
3. Complete the Criminal Record Check form and pay the $5.00 application fee.

Once your Criminal Record Check is processed, please submit a copy to the RDLA Coaching Coordinator.
