All Players whether new to lacrosse or returning for another year of fun are welcome to register for lacrosse. Red Deer Lacrosse Association (RDLA) lacrosse programs are designed to allow new players the opportunity to start out in a fundamentally based program, while also allowing returning players the ability to improve their skills.
Teams will be created based years of experience and skill level that is provided during our registration process. Players will be assigned with the intention of creating teams as evenly as possible starting in early March with the older divisions continuing to our younger divisions. Teams will not be finalized until parity has been achieved.
All teams will be allocated a minimum of one practice a week at various facilities throughout Red Deer. Please be prepared to practice Monday to Thursday. We will do our best to schedule a consistent day and time, but appreciate your understanding.
RDLA teams participate in the Central Alberta Lacrosse League (CALL). League play will commence mid-April and continue until mid-June with playoffs to follow. Games can be expected on Monday, Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. U7 and U9 groups will typically play on weekends.
Box lacrosse requires full equipment. New players will receive game shorts with their registration. Returning players will have the option to buy additional game shorts during registration.

RDLA will be having tryouts for U13, U15 and U17 divisions. All players from CALL are welcome to try out for an 'A' Red Deer Chiefs Team. All players trying out will be required to pay a tryout fee of $50. 'A' team tryouts will start in early February. Registration for tryouts runs from December 1 to January 15.

A player is NOT deemed "registered" until the entire registration fee is paid in full. A player will NOT be allowed to participate until 100% of the fees are paid. These fees must be paid prior to the evaluation process, unless special arrangements have been made.

As part of the registration process, a comprehensive code of conduct for players and parents has been implemented to ensure a respectful and positive season within the lacrosse community. This must be followed throughout the season to remain eligible to participate.

As a mandatory part of registration, families are required to contribute 10 hours of volunteer service throughout the season. To ensure commitment, a $100 deposit per player is required - payable to the team. This deposit is fully reimbursed upon successful completion of the volunteer hours. This initiative not only fosters community involvement but also supports the smooth running of events, enriching the experience for all involved in the sport.
RDLA hosts one of the longest running tournaments in Canadian Lacrosse history. The Tradition Lives Lacrosse Tournament is played over the May long weekend, All attending teams U9-U17 will be expected to fill volunteer roles that weekend, up to four hours per player. This is in addition to the 10 hours included with your team.
Volunteering at the Tradition Lives Tournament is required regardless of attendance. Arrangements to cover shifts must be made directly by the family and failing to due so may result in an additional charge being added to your registration account.
