Code of Conduct


Red Deer Lacrosse Association Codes of Conduct

The Codes of Conduct are designed to uphold the mission of the Red Deer Lacrosse Association (RDLA) and ensure a positive lacrosse environment. Parents/guardians, athletes, coaches, and managers are expected to comply with these codes and policies. Failure to do so may result in being deemed a ‘member not in good standing,’ leading to exclusion from sanctioned events. Repeated violations may result in disciplinary measures up to and including, the disqualification of your child’s registration and eligibility to play with the RDLA.

Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

  • I will adhere to all policies and expecations outlined by the CALL, ALA, and RDLA, and have completed the online Respect in Sport, online course.
  • I commit to supporting all athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
  • I will show respect toward all facilities.
  • I will abstain from using or promoting profane, insulting, harassing, or otherwise offensive language or behavior.
  • I will not partake in or encourage behavior that jeopardizes the well-being of any participant, including verbal or physical threats.
  • I will refrain from publicly criticizing or ridiculing any individuals associated with lacrosse.
  • I will refrain from posting detrimental, critical, or negative comments/photos about any lacrosse-related entity on social media.
  • I will encourage my child to embody teamwork, sportsmanship, and adherence to rules.
  • I will address concerns with team managers and coaches in a responsible, respectful manner, following the communication guidelines set by our club. I will wait 24 hours before raising non-urgent concerns.
  • I will not enter the field or approach the bench during practice or games unless requested.
  • I will avoid approaching officials before, during, or after a game for any reason.
  • I will treat all individuals involved in lacrosse with respect.

Athlete Code of Conduct

  • I will adhere to all policies and expectations stipulated by the CALL, ALA, and RDLA.
  • I will prepare for practices and competitions, abiding by my coaches' expectations.
  • I will demonstrate respect toward all equipment and facilities.
  • I will support and uplift my teammates, acknowledging their efforts.
  • I will refrain from ridiculing or shouting at teammates and treat them fairly and equally.
  • I will communicate any concerns or issues within the team to coaches and parents.
  • I will not play explicit or offensive music in changing rooms or on facility grounds.
  • I will not use or promote the use of profanity or obscene language/behavior.
  • I will avoid engaging in or encouraging behavior that endangers anyone's well-being, including verbal or physical threats.
  • I will refrain from posting detrimental, critical, or negative comments/photos about any lacrosse-related entity on social media.
  • I will uphold the principles of good sportsmanship and play by the rules.
  • I will respect opponents on and off the field and acknowledge their efforts.
  • I will respect game officials' decisions and refrain from approaching them before or after games.
  • I will accept victory and defeat gracefully.
  • I will treat all individuals involved in lacrosse with respect.
